History

History of the Conference

The first International Conference on Electric(al) Contacts was organised by Dr. Ragnar Holm and Prof. R. E. Armington in 1961 and held at the University of Maine, in Orono, USA. Since then the Conference has been held every two years at venues around the world.

The Conference Series has become recognized as the principal worldwide gathering of electrical contacts scientists and engineers giving a forum for the presentation of research on contact phenomena, developments in technologies and advancement in manufacture of a whole range of connective devices.

The Conference has previously visited Switzerland on two occasions, 1986 in Lausanne and in 2002 at ETH Zurich.
